So today I have begun the pre-process of the John Cena's BodyChange® Challenge. This 10-week program is designed to do what it's titled Change my body. Before I go into the nitty gritty of the program, let me tell you about my weight loss journey. So all of my life I have been a bit on the heavier side, bouncing up and down throughout my college years between 180 lbs at my thinnest and 200 lbs at my heaviest. At 5'11" with a curvy frame 180 lb is actually pretty thin for me, but overall I am definitely not a thin person, nor do I really have the desire to be. I like my curves, but I don't like the extra weight I have put on since my children were born. That range of 180-200 is now my ideal range, as I am now 260lbs.
I had my daughter at 26 and then my son at 27, not much time in between actually only a total of 21 months between and I didn't lose the pregnancy weigh in between. That was definitely a mistake, the thirty pounds I put on with Lily plus the 30 lbs on top of that I put on with Luke really seems to have moved in and made itself at home. That being said my baby weight is now, just becoming a burden in my life. Being overweight has really damaged my personal sense of attractiveness and at times has resulted in rifts within my marriage. I am fortunate that my husband loves me no matter how much pudge I put on, but not feeling attractive can really put a damper on the love life if you know what I mean. That being said I am ready for this change, I am ready for John Cena's program to help change my life. I mean why not right? I can do this, and with your help and support I will succeed. I would love for you to join me on this journey.
Alright, now that I have admitted to my weight (YUCK!) I am ready to get my preparation done. First off, the John Cena's BodyChange® program is an online program that you can do from your home. By signing up you have access to the Success Tool which will track your progress. Using your measurements you get a BMI measurement and it gives you a graph that tracks your progress. For the first week John Cena as my personal trainer is starting off with the foundation of the program which is Nutrition. I will update you at the end of the week about what I learn. Or you can join me and sign up, I would love a buddy for this Journey!
I received the Nite Ize Gear ties for review, and I at first glance i thought they were colorful tie ups, only they are definitely not. The picture above highlights one of the unique ways that the Gear ties, can be used, but this is only the beginning. Coming in a pack of 8 these gear ties are actually super handy. I use them to tie up the cords to my headphones so that they don't get all sort of wonkie in my purse. I can use them like above as a stand for my phone when I am out with the kids. I also enjoy using them for keeping my pot holders tied to the handle of my kitchen drawers.
My husband has found quite a few uses for them as well. He uses them to tie up the cords for his Xbox which is awesome. Otherwise, the cords end up everywhere in our house. We have decided to order another pack of them because we like them so much. At only a couple bucks for a set on amazon the price is definitely right to tie up all our cords and find a hundred more uses for them!
If your interested in grabbing some for yourself check them out on Amazon!

The love of reading is become a lost passion in the youth of today. As a beyond avid reader, it pains me to see that many kids would rather do anything than read a book. I personally believe as a parent it is my job to ensure my kids love to read and understand that their strongest muscle should always be their brain. Books spark imagination which I equate with brain cardio. Yeah, I just said reading is brain cardio, feel free to quote it, use it, modify it and make it your own!
Since, I think that it’s a parent’s job to get kids into reading, we try to read to Luke and Lily every night, but recently I found another way to get some reading time during Bath time with the Scrubba Dub Dub with Daddy Duck Giftset from Daddy & Co. Yes, typically baths and books don’t really go well, but fortunately Daddy & Co. offers a super cute rubber ducky book combo, that changes the game. Typically our bathtub is full of bath toys ranging from rubber duckies to barbies, many of which create for a bubbly haven of fun, but now we have the new addition of Scrubba Dub Dub with Daddy Duck! One thing about this book I really enjoy is that it’s a story of love. The act of giving my children a bath although a chore is completely a labor of love with lots of laughing and typically some splashing. And although they might not realize that they feel it, but by us taking time with them they are drinking in our love and typically some nasty bath water.
Without spoiling the book, although you can imagine from the title Scrubba Dub Dub with Daddy Duck there really isn’t a huge number of twists and turns in it does make an effort to highlight how important Daddy is and how much he loves his ducklings. I like books that highlight the role of a good Dad, my kids are fortunate enough to have a very active Daddy and I like seeing the parental role highlight in a positive light. I think when it comes to many companies they are very Mommy-centric , that is part of the reason I am a huge fan of Daddy & Co in general. As a company their products really show the integral part of a family the Dad plays.
If you are interested in grabbing one of these super cute giftsets from an upcoming babyshower or just a gift for the little ones in your life you won’t be disappointed.
Luckily, 1 reader of Science of Couponing has the opportunity to win a set for themselves! Contest open to Continental US only 18+, all entries are optional, but will be verified for validity of entry. Thank you Daddy & Co for such a great giveaway! Giveaway runs 04/20-05/01!!
Demon Wolf by Bonnie Vanak
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Disclosure: I received this book as an ARC in order to review it with my honest opinion, no compensation was received and all opinions are 100% my own.
Navy Seal commander Dale Curtis is a broken man, his life has been beyond dedicated to helping and saving people from evil and evil has finally worked its way into him. On a mission Dale sacrificed his own body to save an innocent, only to be left torn to pieces and on the brink of death. Kiera Solomon is the one who hurt him, but knowing he is the only one who can save her from enslavement she turns to him for help, only she can't reveal her true identity. The forced pain she inflicted on him is a constant ache in her heart and in order to save herself and him she has to find a way to cleanse his soul.
I tend to read a lot of romance novels, yeah I am just a hopeless romantic, and I would say that I would almost not characterize this in the same genre. This book and story had a great level of depth into the storyline, that most romance novels are lacking. This is an epic battle of good versus evil with a love story in it, rather than a love story with an epic battle. I want to differentiate so that as a reader your not expecting a complete bodice ripper, when your really getting a really great adult paranormal story. I would love to continue with this in the form of a series, but expand beyond the story of Dale and Kiera, to his entire team. The characters set up by Bonnie Vanak, really are intriguing and could easily be unique stories of their own.

Ever Shade by Alexia Purdy
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Disclosure: I received this book in order to give my honest opinion from Netgalley, all opinions are 100% my own.
Shade was an ordinary teen, well except for the fact that she hears voices, but who's splitting hairs? On her way home from school, that all changes when she gives into the voices and ends up meeting Jack. Jack isn't human, he is a Teelen Faery Warrior that takes the reluctant Shade back to Faerie with him. Shade learns pretty quickly that she isn't quite as ordinary and definitely not losing her mind when the world of Faerie reveals she is actually more than she seems and destine to be very important to the people of faerie.
Alexia Purdy created her own Narnia in the world of Faerie and the Dark Faerie Tale Series, with characters of equal on par with creative magic to those of the classic fantasy novels and some of my childhood classics. As we travel Faerie with the reluctant heroine Shade we go through all the classic stages. Awareness of something being different about her, introduction into the new world, acceptance of the unknown and epic quest. I love Shade, her character is of solid character and strong sense of self despite all that is thrown at her. Her individual strength, although not always physical builds throughout the story and really creates a strong foundation for the subsequent books in the series. I would definitely equate this with a young adult female centric Lord of the Rings. I started this book in the late afternoon and continued until it's completion. This series and this book is something I would lose sleep over it's just that good.

Financially we aren't well off enough to be able to have one kid in daycare and the other in preschool or both in preschool. Luckily, for us we are fortunate to have a wonderful daycare provider who works with the kids on the basics, but in all reality a lot of their pre-kindergarden education weighs heavy on my shoulders. I love working with them, but with everything else that has to be done after work it is harder to spend a ton of time working with them. So when I have to do other things I rely heavily on technology to help teach them including many of the online teaching programs.
As a result my kids are total tech heads. They love the tablet more than I do and honestly are probably better with it than I am too. At four and two they really impress me so when it comes to learning apps they are kinda picky. They tend to like them for a bit and then outgrow them, and then when I am doing dishes or cooking they switch to netflix or something else. However, watching Lily, my oldest (4) play Agnitus' learning app on our tablet is a bit different. I can see it perpetually getting harder for her, which in turn keeps her playing. The game seems to be able to adapt to her and with that she is learning.
I love that I could download this app for free try it out and get to know whether or not the kids will really like it. Which seems to be a yes, plus there are several features that help me as a busy parent check their progress. The skills report as shown below is an example of what Lily is currently working on. Right now she is playing and learning to recognize her colors as well as the letters associated with various fruits and other 2D shapes. Which seems to right in line with the curriculum that she would be working on in preschool and at only 6.99 a month it definitely is well within my monthly budget.

With a news cycle in constant state of alert for anything negative, the bombardment of things that make it hard to think of life in good light. I almost feel like I can taste how unhappy people are growing as a whole and it truly breaks my heart. Only when something truly devastating happens to a large mass of people to I get reaffirmation of the true goodness of people in general and it warms my heart. In the wake of one of these reaffirmations of the goodness in people a devastating tornado, the company Alexa Angels thought to help spread the good will by creating the posi+ivi+y bracelets. These bracelets were created in the hopes of it being a constant reminder of the goodness and spread a good message.
When it comes to the day to day attitudes are contagious especially that of positivity. The people over at Alexa's Angels know that positivity is a strong emotion that can have a very profound effect on someone who needs it that day. I have spent the last few weeks wearing the posi+ivi+y bracelet set in color red and I have to say each time I looked down at it I smile. I have also made an effort to spread the positive attitude by giving one of the three away to someone who I thought it woud make them smile. So that each time they look down a the bracelet they think of the fact that I want them to have a better day than they are having at that moment and I appreciate them enough to share my bracelets.
