So I was given the opportunity to review Dance socks which are specifically designed for dance and dance fitness. Of course, I personally believe that I am a skilled Zumba dancer, however I have been reassured that I am actually not. Crazy talk, I swear I look just like the dancer below.
Okay, so I was refering to the one on the right. Yeah, I don't believe I am much of a Zumba dancer, yet it's all about time vested and I am a newbie. Since these are designed for activities such as sliding and doing Zumba without sitting out half, I called in the big guns a Guest reviewer and avid Zumba master Mike Osborn.
Here is what Mike thought of Dance Shoes:
"My wife and I go to Zumba classes three times a week and Dance socks solved two problems for us. First of all, neither of us has ever found any dance shoes or Zumba shoes that are really comfortable and have sufficient cushioning for all the jumping and stomping we do during class. As a result, both of us both wear athletic shoes that have too much traction to allow easy spins and pivots. Second, whenever there's a rainy day, the Zumba floor always gets sticky, which makes it tough to get through an hour-long class. On sticky-floor days, I used to give up trying to do spins and instead sort of hop my way around, which really felt awkward.
Dance socks work great for most Zumba movements. Samba, cumbia, salsa, merengue, mambo, chachacha, reggaeton and hip hop are all smoother and easier. Dance socks take some getting used to and I felt a little out of control the first time I used them. Now they are just plain fun. Sometimes, depending on the floor, the socks can be a little too slippery, so on those occasions I slide them back a little further on my shoes to increase traction near the toe of my shoes. Dance socks are durable and ours are holding up well on smooth gym floors."
Thanks Mike for a great review!
