So I am about to embark on a new age of cooking in my house with the Ivation Electric Pressure Cooker. Having never used a pressure cooker before, I had to do some extensive research into what the heck you use one for. by reach I mean "google" research, so after shifting through a lot of incomprehensible gibberish about the world of pressure cooking. I learned you can cook just about everything in a pressure cooker. Anything you can cook on the stove pretty much can be done in a pressure cooker as long as you don't expect to stir it during. So then I debated what would I try first, I figured why not pick something that is a huge time suck and try to get it to be faster. I opted to make ground turkey chili from dry kidney beans. A staple in my childhood that I remember always took way too long. Typically it takes hours to get dry beans to cook thoroughly so much so you cook those first or buy them canned to speed up the process. However, it literally took 45 minutes in this pressure cooker to cook dry beans to chili. It would take at least 4 hours traditionally so this a huge time saver. And proudly I say the chili was pretty awesome. Now that I have told you what I made let me tell you about this particular pressure cooker and it's quality level.
Having never used a pressure cooker I was genuinely cautious as my google research also showed me a lot of horror stories about exploding pressure cookers and kitchens that were destroyed. This pressure cooker however being an electric one is a lot safe in that respect. So I doubt I will have that problem, but that doesn't stop the minor paranoia. From the practice of set up and procedure of how to run it, it is genuinely no more complicated than any slow cooker and with the buttons giving you an indication of what to select it is simple to use. When it's done it's easy to vent and the steam coming out isn't as hot as I would expect which was also a bonus so I didn't have to shoo everyone away. Overall this is my new favorite kitchen appliance, move over rice cooker you have been replaced. With it being winter we like to have lots of heartier hot meals and they take time. Time I absolutely don't have, but now I can make them with ease.
My only complaint about this pressure cooker is the instruction manual is written in super tiny script and I am well almost blind.
