When it comes to scales not all are created equal despite all having the same sort of function. A typical household scale serves one purpose to measure your weight, but what about when it can help you lose weight? What if a scale can have more purpose would it be worth spending a little more? In my quest to lose weight I have definitely taken this into account so when given the opportunity to try out scales I jump on it. One of the scales I have been fortunate enough to review thus far is the Weight Gurus Smartphone Connected Digital Bathroom Scale with Large Backlit LCD & Weightless Technology. I know that is an extremely verbose and descriptive name for a bathroom scale so from now on I will refer to it as the Weight Gurus scale. For this review I took into account key elements that are important when I am purchasing a scale: accuracy, functionality, durability and appearance.
Accuracy: I give this 4.5 out of 5 for accuracy, like all scales it is a relative number, but I did find when I moved it from carpet to tile the readings it gave slightly differed. This occurs with most scales so is in no way a defect or fault I just was kinda hoping it would exceed expectations.
Functionality: I give this scale a 5 out of 5 for functionality. The Weight Gurus have a scale sensitive enough to feel when the wind is blowing on it so it lights up immediately when you step on it and quickly gives you, your weight reading. It holds weight up to 400 lbs exceeding most bathroom scales. But, above all the physical functionality the best component is the wireless linking to your phone app that will allow you to track your weight. I have personally been using this to track my John Cena's BodyChange challenge weight loss to help determine when I have a bad day what makes the biggest impact. It also can be a key component to helping you track your weight and potentially lose more. If you can't tell I am huge fan of this function. If only they had it link into myfitnesspal or another fitness app but I am sure that is probably in the works.
Durability: I gave this scale a 4 out of 5. The lightweight feel of this scale although sturdy leaves me worried about dropping it. That doesn't mean that I will have it break I am only cautious because of the way it feels. It does however hold 400 lbs so I can imagine it is probably more durable than I am willing to risk. Thus far the kids haven't killed it which says a lot because they have a tendency to kill our bathroom scales by jumping on them, so that gives me a high hope for this one's life span. They mention a 5 year warranty so that could potentially attest to the true durability, I haven't had to use it so I don't know what it covers, but it seems like it has potential to be a staple in your household for a long time.
Appearance: I give this scale a 5 out of 5 for appearance. I know typically a scale is a scale, however it becomes a part of your bathroom therefore if it's ugly then well you have an ugly scale in your bathroom. This scale however isn't ugly at all, it is glossy and reflective and the LCD screen is beautifully backlit which enhances the appearance. It's definitely a handsome looking scale. They also offer it in white Chevron which is pretty much amazing, my only personal regret is that I didn't review that one it's beautiful and it makes my heart sing. I might be willing to weight myself twice a day just to see it. But, hey I have a thing for chevron pattern.
Overall I would give this a 4.75 out of 5 and at 29.99 on Amazon right now I would say it is definitely worth the expense and would enhance any bathroom.
I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
