So to be honest with everyone, I am not a sports fan. I have only dated one sports fan in my life and tend to avoid all sporting events except for hockey games and an occasional baseball game. So when I see all the negativity around professional athletes in the news it really doesn't phase me. In my mind I figure like celebrities professional athletes utilize the drama to make a name for themselves. It's sad, but as our generation plugged in seems to be more interested in who is sleeping with who than the actual political state of the world, it doesn't surprise me in the slightest. But, what does surprise me is to see the wealth of generosity coming out of what is considered to be one of the more "troublesome" teams.
This year a 4 year old little girl whom has been struggling with heart issues was treated to the royal treatment. The team and the players went above and beyond to give her a dream treatment, but one player outdid them all. Menelik Watson gave his game check to the family, which is 1/17th of his pay. How many people do you know that can say they donate 1/17th of their pay? I know I can't. Yes, his pay is considerably more, but honestly the more money you make the higher your bills so it's all relative. I wanted to take a moment to recognize his generosity.
