Last night was opening night of the Monster Jam weekend at Sleep Train Arena in Sacramento and it was a blast. Families braved the cold rain and standing in longer than normal lines with the growing pains of the new security checks in order to make it through those doors to see real Monsters of Legend. Monster Jam has always been an example of modern mechanics gone wild and driving to the extreme, and last night was no different. With the loud engines roaring and the new events it was definitely a revamped version of the always family friendly event. No longer is it just the big beasts gracing the arena, now the drivers have to perform more mixed driving vehicles ranging from Quads to Monster trucks in size.
This year there was quite a bit more competition with 8 different drivers in multiple events. You could really see the athleticism in the quad races with each driver taking on two laps against the other competitors. With two female drivers this year my daughter Lily had someone to root for that she can also envision herself as which is amazing. I love that Monster Jam also featured the pictures from social media so my little ones could see themselves tagged on the Jumbo Screen. Monster Jam has definitely upgraded itself from a boys club sort of event to one that the entire family can enjoy. What a great night!
With events like Monster Jam there really aren't bad seats in the house so if you are looking to buy tickets and only can find upper level don't fret the show is big and loud enough they are great seats as well. Don't wait to buy tickets at the box office the seats for tonight and tomorrow day show are selling out and you don't want to miss this event!

Valentine's day is approaching as is all the influx of everything love-y dove-y. From the Notebook to Ten things I hate about you, every channel will have something sweet on it. Only those aren't my kind of love story, my kind of love story is more in the niche of A Nightmare Before Christmas. I want a love like Jack and Sally, understated and so romantic is a dark kinda way. I love the characters of Jack & Sally so when given the opportunity to review the necklace Crescent Moon Nightmare, I was excited.
The necklace was a glass picture in an alloy charm with a 24" chain. The chain is of the longer variety so that it will sit long about mid-chest. The quality is exactly what I would expect for about 10$. It's a nice little necklace although I don't expect it to be overtly long lasting, but it will be super cute as long as it does. The coloration of glass with Jack & Sally is bright and beautiful. I would recommend purchasing this item as a gift for a young girl from a son or for a huge fan of the movie, I think both will find the sentiment to be highly appreciated.

So I am about to embark on a new age of cooking in my house with the Ivation Electric Pressure Cooker. Having never used a pressure cooker before, I had to do some extensive research into what the heck you use one for. by reach I mean "google" research, so after shifting through a lot of incomprehensible gibberish about the world of pressure cooking. I learned you can cook just about everything in a pressure cooker. Anything you can cook on the stove pretty much can be done in a pressure cooker as long as you don't expect to stir it during. So then I debated what would I try first, I figured why not pick something that is a huge time suck and try to get it to be faster. I opted to make ground turkey chili from dry kidney beans. A staple in my childhood that I remember always took way too long. Typically it takes hours to get dry beans to cook thoroughly so much so you cook those first or buy them canned to speed up the process. However, it literally took 45 minutes in this pressure cooker to cook dry beans to chili. It would take at least 4 hours traditionally so this a huge time saver. And proudly I say the chili was pretty awesome. Now that I have told you what I made let me tell you about this particular pressure cooker and it's quality level.
Having never used a pressure cooker I was genuinely cautious as my google research also showed me a lot of horror stories about exploding pressure cookers and kitchens that were destroyed. This pressure cooker however being an electric one is a lot safe in that respect. So I doubt I will have that problem, but that doesn't stop the minor paranoia. From the practice of set up and procedure of how to run it, it is genuinely no more complicated than any slow cooker and with the buttons giving you an indication of what to select it is simple to use. When it's done it's easy to vent and the steam coming out isn't as hot as I would expect which was also a bonus so I didn't have to shoo everyone away. Overall this is my new favorite kitchen appliance, move over rice cooker you have been replaced. With it being winter we like to have lots of heartier hot meals and they take time. Time I absolutely don't have, but now I can make them with ease.
My only complaint about this pressure cooker is the instruction manual is written in super tiny script and I am well almost blind.

This smells amazing. Like cinnamon Christmas almost and I love it. The fragrance is prominent enough to make it worth the effort and to mask some of the more unwanted smells like wet clothes this holiday season but it has an airiness that doesn't overwhelm. I love the saying on the front it kinda made me tear up a little bit. I am hoping to have that relationship with my daughter as she gets older and I know my mom and I do already. I gave her this and it lit up her face. For a non-sappy person it made her smile so that is all I could ever want. This is a wonderful gift for your mom and I could definitely see a dad helping a daughter get this for her mom for Christmas or Mother's day.

Ours above, their image below it looks so good when the TV fits....
So we received this in exchange for our honest opinions of the quality of the product and first off I was genuinely surprised by the thickness of the material. I know it said for outdoor TVs, but honestly I wasn't expecting it to be as durable feeling. Many times you read that something is good for outdoors and then you get it and it's only "water resistant" or something along those lines. I genuinely expect for this one to water proof. I am however too chicken to test that with a hose on our outdoor tv as it lives under an awning. So instead I shall just wait it out. The reason we were wanted something along this front is because even under the awning it can get a bit moister than we think it should be with it being electronic and when the TV is not in use say in heavy storms we'd like to keep it covered. This cover does just that. It attached securely without issue, although it was significantly bigger than our TV's size.
My husband says that just means our outside TV which is 32" I think needs to be upgraded. Some of the product features I like are the Velcro versus zipper covers, just seems easier to Velcro than to zip and less likely to have issues in the long run. The remote holder is pretty awesome too, although since we have our TV mounted high it will mainly be for storage of it rather than an in use holder, but that is probably the point. Overall, great quality product and definitely worth it if you are looking for a protective cover for an outdoor TV.

So I babysit my niece regularly, she is quite a chunky baby and holding her is cumbersome to say the least especially for long periods of time. We like to let her crawl around, but with our dog and her having this battle of wits as of late with her and her baby hulk hands hurting the dog I have found it's almost easier to just bear the weight. So when I was offered the baby sling wrap to try I thought this might be just the solution I was looking for. And honestly it was, I was able to do chores in other rooms as well as keep her entertained. When she was ready to nap I was able to keep on moving while she slept. Overall, it was a great solution to my babysitting needs.
Now let me tell you a bit about the Wrap sling itself. So it's a heavy duty 100% cotton, but it almost felt like a smooth canvas material. It was that sturdy, yet flexible. The embroidery is really nice and definitely unisex, with a slightly feminine flare. It was extremely easy to put on and figure out. Step 1 tie around waist or hip region depending on how high you want the baby relative to your face or on your back. Step 2 load baby in orientation of desire we typically load Reagan on the front since she wants to chat with you (although non vocal it's still a hoot to chat with her facial expressions). Step 3 tie the shoulder straps up over and around and tada baby locked and loaded for a day. The weight distribution is good too, not focusing all 20lbs of my niece on my shoulders but distributing it throughout my center better than any backpack has. The pads on the shoulder help too very much.
For the cost this is a great option for parents who have a little one and others babysit them often you could buy a couple leave one in the car and one at aunties etc. So that everyone has an option without having to splurge on the more expensive other options they have.

Have you ever tried to cut a pizza with a kitchen knife? No, typically people use those stupid round pizza cutters that clog with cheese and won't keep rolling so then they start pushing it like the cart at the store with a broken wheel. You end up scraping all the toppings onto the edge and leaving one slice with only sauce and the other with everything. So, yeah that really isn't too bad when you are the mom and get to move a few toppings back onto the kids slice and enjoy double toppings on yours. However, when the kids are watching they always call dibs and then watch as I give them the topping rich slice. Yeah, since I am notorious in my house for being the topping hog... they watch eagerly to make sure they get all the pepperoni... Little turds. So, since they don't work for a crap I use a kitchen knife now and well they don't work all that well either.
Luckily, for me the people over at TipnToss sent me a 14" pizza rocker to try out. So tonight, I bought a couple frozen pizzas and tried it out. With the average pizza being about 12" this is exactly the right size for cutting a frozen pizza at home and it is so very easy. You literally position it above and rock it through the crust. The toppings cut through, but they don't slide off the cheese and the crust cuts evenly without smooshing. Overall I am super happy with it and it's ease of use.
So I will preface my review with I am a 32 year old woman with fairly young looking skin without sun damage . I have been using the True Glow Eye Cream from Valentia for about 2 weeks now and I can honestly say that I haven't noticed much difference in terms of wrinkles or texture. That being said I can't say I have any wrinkles around my eyes yet, so using this product is completely preventative. I can attest to how it helps with puffiness though, I was sick and had been literally losing my lunch for an hour. Saying my eyes were puffed out is like saying a puffer fish is bloated. I almost looked like a fish the bags around my eyes were so enlarged. Unfortunately, I also had to go to work a few hours later and honestly I try to look presentable at work. So I used the Valentia True Glow Eye Cream and it helped to bring down the swelling and almost got my eyes back to the normal well minus the broken blood vessels. Thank goodness for make up after that, but at least it wasn't like plastering puffy eye sockets to look presentable.
Overall, I would say this is a good cream it does help with the immediate usage and I can imagine in the long term it will help. As for why I gave it 4 out of 5 stars. I wasn't a huge fan of the smell. It has a unique odor to it, although not horribly displeasing it definitely isn't my favorite. It however disappears really quickly, I am guessing it's part of the organic natural ingredients and I am sure it's important so I can totally look past it. Overall good product worth the price point.

As long as she has been alive I have called my daughter Lily my little bird. She is one of the two most beautiful creations I have ever had the pleasure of helping to create. She is beautiful, graceful, smart and sassy. She is literally perfect and I am so lucky to get to call her my daughter. So when I was looking at items to review and I saw a matching pair of necklaces with a larger bird with a hole in the same of the smaller bird below it I could not have imagined a better necklace to give her. The Arielle Mother Daughter Necklace set with little birds couldn't have fit our personal styles more perfectly.
Lily is 6 and has just begun to love jewelry and all things girly, I however seemed to have missed that age in my life or have since lost the desire to wear jewelry. However, the lightweight pewter and stainless steel material is delicate enough that I find it to be complimentary without being overwhelming. Once I finally commit to wearing a piece of jewelry it will be on me for sometime as I like to literally forget I am wearing it and this one completely fit that bill. The chains were perfect lengths with the adjustable 16 or 18 inch chain and look fabulous.
When I put the necklace on Lily her face lit up, she loves that she and I are wearing matching necklaces. And honestly so am I. They only stay little for so long and I hope that this necklace reminds her that she is forever my little bird even when she is older. Ooh.. I am actually tearing up thinking about her getting older, I bet other mothers out there do the same.
If you are looking for a great reminder for your Mother that you are her little girl still inside or to gift to your daughter. I can say they won't be disappointed.
Disclosure: I received a couple of packages of wipes in order to figure out whether they are great or not.
So I was given a couple of packages of the new Bloom natural baby wipes, each package contains 80 wipes each. These wipes are now available at Sam's club in the form of a case. Each case is about 23$ so that translates to about 0.03 per wipe which is right in line with every other brand of wipe however these wipes are different. So when you read the list of ingredients on it you literally can actually read and understand them. I have a degree and a science background and there are still chemicals in wipes that I can't identify the purpose. That being said, I don't doubt they are needed for one reason or another, but I do like the idea of not having to worry about knowing that.
Our mothers used hot water wash cloths with soap and so did our grandmothers and what a yucky mess would that be. Now that we are a disposable wipe society we can still take a moment to gain some control over what we put on our babies bottoms. When you look at the package of Bloom wipes you can read all the different ingredients and actually could read them. Recently, there was a huge hoopla about wipes and crystals etc, however in all reality that wasn't fiberglass chards it was dried out chemical residue. That residue however irritated some poor little bums, those little bums shouldn't be irritated with the ingredients found in Bloom. They are tested for rash and eczema prone skin so should be okay for those poor little guys in discomfort. Want to try them for yourself? Head down to your local Sams and pick up a case or try your luck at winning a case right here!!
