Disclosure: I received compensation for sharing my opinion about survival and prepping with you my readers.
I have a friend who has been preaching to me for over 5 years that it is time to prepare. You know the kind of person right, the friend you though was a little crazy but you loved them tirelessly anyways. The friend who’s garden is always going no matter what the season, that has a stockpile of canned goods and knows how to make their own cheese. The same friend who is ordering water filtration systems, stockpiles heirloom seeds and taught me to make my own cheese. I absolutely love this friend, but always thought he was a bit paranoid in the level at which he was prepared. That was until the most recent events with North Korea and the false alert sent to Hawaii this week it brings home how close we as a country, really are to the conflict. Living in the United States all of my life have left me with what I know perceive as a false sense of security. Honestly I am the one who isn’t quite grasping how bad things could potentially get, not that wonderful prepper friend of mine. I have never worried that something might happen other than natural disasters that might cause my family to need to be prepared. After finally coming to the realization that maybe we need to also prepare, my friend told me not to worry quite as much as a couponer I am a step ahead of the rest.
So now as I stare at the stockpile I have let dwindle over the last year, I begin to make a true need type of plan. Taking a page out of my friends book I am starting with seeds. If the grocery store isn’t available how am I going to feed my family? I am going to use My Patriot supply and get the starter pack of Heirloom seeds at 29.95 for the Organic Seed Vault that should last up to 5+ years if I don’t ruin them. I will have 21 varieties that can be planted and seeds be harvested then replanted. This makes a 1 time investment technically a forever investment. All 21 are specifically selected to germinated pretty much anywhere in the US which is pretty astounding. Overall I think my head has finally cleared the fog of security and now it’s onto gardening into a little bit of security. My next endeavor will to begin to can. Slowly but surely I will build a bug in stockpile that hopefully will be enough to make any sort of issue that could potentially arise easier on my family. Praying that it doesn’t need to be needed in the saving my family from starvation kind of way, but by getting started with seeds and my normal couponing stockpile they will be things that I have “incase”, but will also use in the meantime. If you are interested in looking at some cool prepper stuff spend some time over on My Patriot Supply’s website, I honestly didn’t know they even sold half of the stuff they do.
