My boyfriend gifted me his barbecue when I moved into my new house, I don't honestly get why he didn't just say he was bringing it over to use because I don't bbq but it's the thought, right? Well it managed to turn itself into a if you give a mouse a cookie scenario, because I really love barbecue, but in order to cook it you need barbecue utensils at least that is what he said. After over a month looking at this barbecue everytime I walked out back. I agreed to review a set of BBQ utensils on my blog in order to get a set to try out and give my honest opinion. Well honestly to record my boyfriends honest opinion, because of my adversion to cooking over coals. Warning he is a pessimist and particular about all things barbecue, plus there was a bit of nagging required to get a Tri-tip barbecued out of him.
The Makimy 3-piece professional grade barbecue tools are very sturdy. Sturdy enough to not bend when your turning a 2lb tri-tip so definitely fit most peoples needs. The Overall quality of the metal is good. The handles are cool to the touch when the metal is handling hot meat in the flame. The length was a little shorter than he likes, but they were very solid with no bend when lifting and a solid edge on each of them for making sure to get the meat cleanly off the grill. He liked that the set included a long serrated edged tong set so that he could easily pick up hot dogs or even vegetables, with a little hook into them so they don't slide away and get dropped. The serrated edge on the spatula is also a great addition for those who don't want to have brush in between each hamburger patty. His only complaint was the quality of the ties for hanging it off the barbeque, they took the time to make great tools only to half-ass the way you hang them from your barbecue almost like an after thought.
On a side note, my boyfriend forgot these outside after grilling by the barbecue and we had a nasty rain storm. The set however managed to survive unscathed. No rust appeared and the handles look to be still solid without any deterioration of the rubber or the adhesive that connects it to the metal. This is a great statement to the quality
