We were given a subscription to Reading Kingdom to see how Lily liked it and if it really could help her learn to read. Reading Kingdom is an online program that is almost like a video game only it has games that teach children to read. It was developed based off Dr. Marion Blank from Columbia Universities "6-SIM" Six Skill Integrated Method technique to teach your child to read or improve their reading skills.
Our personal experience was that it is a fun game for Lily to play and she did seem to get better through using it. She likes the online keyboard and I like that it goes through the letters making a sound and also teaching her which key is super important now especially since the handwritten word is becoming less and less used. As a parent, the instructions were very clear for me to be as hands off as possible, which is good and other programs we have tried don't specificially tell you not to explain the instructions to them. I think this definitely sets it apart as it is the sole instructor, parent's are only for reference and signing in.
We will update you in the future as to her progress later in the year, I suspect she will improve her reading skills by using this program, so far she able to spell cat and find the words that in itself is an accomplishment for her and we are proud. If your looking for a program to help your child learn to read or improve their reading skills I recommend Reading kingdom.
I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
