I more than adore donuts, it's almost shameful as to the amount I actually like them. That being said my waistline and donuts don't always see eye to eye with my personal goals, so rather than having donuts fried from a bakery I figure I can make my own and go a bit healthier. I won't like not a whole lot healthier but with the added effort I can at least count that as calories burnt right? Anyways off to the actual review of the silicone donut baking mold itself.
The silicone seems to be high quality from my moderate experience with silicone baking molds, there were no rough or untrimmed edges. The mold was bendable as any silicone mold should be. It also with some buttering was easy to pop out the donuts. With the mold they included 3 recipes for donut batters and I tried the classic with some minor modifications. Rather than include nutmeg as they intended I used Almond and vanilla extract which gave it a bit of flare, I really enjoyed.
My only critiques and the reason I didn't give it 5 stars is the size of the donut mold itself if the center stuck up higher it would have turned out less cake like and they recommend that you only fill 3/4 full, but that seems to be very difficult. Next time I will use a baking bag for the fill and it may be easier to get the classic donut shape.
