Marvel Universe Live opened tonight at the Golden One Center in Sacramento and started it's limited engagement with another six shows. Which leaves ample time for you to grab the kids, grab some tickets and take a mini-staycation to the Marvel Universe. This show has a storyline that combines all the Marvel heroes into one particular mission that has them all facing a teamed up group of villians both from the movies as well as comics. For the comic nerds out there it gives you another way to love the Marvel world.
Before I gush about how much the kids like this show let me give you a bit of a nerdy grown up perspective. Firstly, no one does unique plot lines or colorful character humor like Marvel and this show holds true to that. With the banter between Ironman & Captain America exchanging the usual jabs as well quips from the ever hilarious Guardians of the Galaxy, the adult audience was not let down by this show.
Now onto the gushing, Luke our 6 year old couldn't stop cheering along and getting excited at all the action. From dirt bike chases and jumps to lots and lots of fighting. From the parent perspective it all looked like play fighting with a lot of gymnastics, but from the kid perspective it was superheros doing their thing, kicking butt and defending the world. And they were able to see it up close and experience it for themselves. From the fire dancers to the sky dancers, the video wall that changed locations and there were elements that totally immersed the kids into the Marvel Universe and made it that much better.
Of all the show types we have gone to throughout the year this is definitely the one that speaks directly to Luke and catches his attention the best. If you have a little nerd in training or a superhero fan this is the show for the family. And even though you will be hounded to get them every type of overpriced sugar item like all kid events it's more than worth it to have the smiles on their face and to hear them recount over and over on the ride how who was did the best and what they just saw. Listening to them in the car just reminds me that these nights and their seemingly endless chatter while tired after an exciting night won't last forever so I am embracing them.
